The re-opening by The Mayor was distinguished by a special characteristic in that the Centre hadn’t actually closed at all. It was a prime purpose of the new group of volunteers taking over the operation to ensure uninterrupted service to regular users. Nevertheless, the grand event invited existing supporters and new visitors alike to participate in a ceremony in which The Worshipful Mayor of Ashford Cllr Jessamy Blanford unveiled a plaque.
